chef cooking tips
- Garlic powder is my go to for marinades ~ Garlic powder easily dissolves in marinades so the flavor is incorporated throughout the liquid. Also fresh garlic can burn quickly and add a bitter taste to the cooked chicken. Stick with garlic powder for this recipe.
- Use a resealable bag for marinating ~ This is the easiest and best way to ensure the chicken is completely covered in the marinade. It also makes for simple clean up. Just seal and toss the used marinade after removing the chicken from the bag.
- Cut the chicken in same size pieces ~ For the most flavorful and evenly cooked chicken, cut in pieces about 1 ยฝ to 2 inches. Make sure to cut across the grain of the chicken so the pieces are not tough.
- Marinating time ~ In a rush? Marinate the chicken for 30 minutes. And this can be done at room temperature. Try not to marinate more than 4 hours (in the refrigerator). The chicken can turn mushy and soft.
- Sauté, bake or grill ~ Either sauté the chicken in a pan on the stovetop, thread on a skewer and grill for 6 to 8 minutes total time, or bake at 375 degrees F for 15 to 20 minutes. You can even bake the chicken right in the marinade!
