A super refreshing cocktail, my Sparkling Vodka Limeade is perfect for any season. Fresh mint infuses the sweet, tart and tangy frozen limeade concentrate. Just the right amount of vodka adds a kick while club soda gives the drink its fizzy sparkle. Easy to make watermelon ice cubes make this pitcher cocktail festive any time of the year.

Ingredients & Substitutions

Gather the refreshing ingredients for this summery cocktail. Scroll to the printable recipe for full quantities of the ingredients.

vodka, limeade concentrate, mint, lime and ice cubes
  • Frozen limeade concentrate ~ Available in the freezer section of grocery stores. A 52 ounce bottle of premade limeade can be used as a substitute.
  • Fresh mint leaves ~ Check the produce section of the grocery store.
  • Vodka ~ I prefer Tito's in my cocktails. But use your favorite vodka if you'd like.
  • Club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Watermelon ice cubes ~ My directions for making these fruity cubes is in the Amy's Expert Tips section.

How to Make Vodka Limeade (Step-by-Step)

This spiked limeade cocktail is perfect for your next party or leisurely afternoon hanging out with friends. This is just a brief overview of the recipe. Scroll to the recipe card for full instructions.

muddled mint leaves in a pitcher
  1. Muddle the mint ~ Pour some of the limeade in a large pitcher and add the mint leaves. With a wooden spoon, muddle or lightly smash the mint into the limeade concentrate.
  2. Add the remaining limeade and vodka ~ Pour the rest of the limeade and the vodka into the pitcher. Stir to combine.
  3. Add club soda ~ Slowly pour the club soda into the pitcher - it will be bubbly. Stir.
  4. Serve ~ Fill a glass with ice and a couple watermelon ice cubes add the lime vodka drink.

Hint: Chill the club soda. Cold club soda will help your drinks have a nice chill.

Variations

  • Change up the alcohol ~ Try rum, spice rum, gin or tequila instead of the vodka.
  • Add more fruit ~ Slices of lemon, orange, or grapefruit add even more citrus flavor.
  • Muddle different herbs ~ Crush basil or cilantro instead of the mint. If fresh mint isn't available, add a few drops of peppermint extract.

Amy's Expert Drink Tips

  • Freeze the watermelon cubes ~ Making watermelon ice cubes is a snap. Cut watermelon into 1 inch cubes. Place on a parchment paper or foil lined baking sheet about an inch apart. Put the sheet in the freezer for about 2 hours. When frozen, store the fruity cubes in a resealable bag for up to 3 months.
  • Thaw the limeade ~ When the limeade concentrate is liquid, it is easier to mix a pitcher of sparkling limeade cocktails. Either place it in the refrigerator overnight or on the counter for about 20 minutes to thaw it.

Make Ahead Tip

If you like to prep a big pitcher of drinks in advance, this is the ideal recipe. Mix the limeade concentrate, mint leaves and vodka in a large pitcher. Store in the refrigerator. This is the pitcher with a lid that's great for the fridge.

When ready to serve, add the club soda. Serve in ice cube filled glasses with frozen watermelon cubes, limes slices and garnish with more mint leaves.

What to Serve with Cocktails

It's always delicious to have a few noshes and nibbles on hand with enjoying cocktails. These are some favorites.

  • Blackened Tuna Bites with Sweet Pickle Dipping Sauce
  • Cuban Sandwich Appetizer Skewers
  • Pico de Gallo and tortilla chips
  • Hawaiian Tortilla Pizzas

Vodka Limeade FAQs

Why does lime make alcohol drinks taste better?

Lime along with lemon, orange and grapefruit add a bright flavor to alcohol drinks. Also it tames the alcohol burn so it's smoother to drink.

Can a lime vodka drink made without alcohol?

Yes! This refreshing summer cocktail can be made as a mocktail. Omit the vodka and replace it with more club soda.
