Description
Grilled strip steaks get a kick from a rub featuring coffee and chili powder.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 tablespoons ground coffee
- 1 tablespoon fresh ground pepper
- 2 teaspoons kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 4 strip steaks (about 1 1/2 inches thick)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the ground coffee, pepper, salt, garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, and sugar. Rub steaks with a generous amount of the spices. Cover and refrigerate for 1 – 4 hours.
- Heat grill to high. Remove the steaks from the refrigerator about 15 minutes before grilling to remove the chill from the meat. Grill steaks about 6 – 8 minutes per side for medium rare. The internal temperature of the steaks should be about 130 to 135 degrees. Remove steaks from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
