Description
If you love a classic caprese salad, this Stuffed Tomato, Mozzarella and Basil Caprese Salad will be your new favorite. For a fun twist, all the traditional ingredients of the delicious summer side dish are stuffed and served in individual tomatoes.
Ingredients
- 4 roma tomatoes
- 20 thin slices of fresh mozzarella, about 3/4 lb
- 20 fresh basil leaves
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Balsamic glaze
- Kosher salt
- Fresh ground black pepper
Instructions
- Slice tomatoes: Partially cut 5 evenly spaced slices in each tomato making sure not to cut all the way through.
- Stuff tomatoes: Stuff each cut with a piece of mozzarella and a basil leaf. Transfer the tomatoes to a platter.
- Drizzle: Drizzle each tomato with the olive oil and balsamic glaze.
- Sprinkle: Sprinkle each tomato with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper.
Notes
*As this summer favorite salad has only a few ingredients, use the highest quality and the freshest ripe tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, basil, extra virgin olive oil and balsamic glaze you can find.
*Refrigeration dulls the flavor of summer tomatoes and fresh mozzarella. The ingredients of the salad will have peak flavor when served at room temperature.
